Nashville mandolinist Butch Baldassari and guitarist John Mock have joined forces to create a unique musical mood... Cantabile: Duets for Mandolin and Guitar. From Bach and Scarlatti to Beethoven and Sor, the music flows seamlessly. The timeless melodies of Tarrega's Recuerdos de la Alhambra and Satie's Gymnopedie #1 also receive very fresh treatments in this duet setting.
Butch Baldassari is well known in Bluegrass circles through his work with Weary Hearts, Lonesome Standard Time and Richard Greene's The Grass is Greener. He is also founder and leader of the Nashville Mandolin Ensemble. Recent titles include Plectrasonics (CMH), Gifts (Columbia) and All The Rage (New World).
John Mock is a highly sought-after musician and composer. His recent composition "The Stone" was recorded by the Nashville Chamber Orchestra (Warner Brothers). He was also featured on Mark O'Connor's "Liberty" project for Sony Classical with James Taylor. In performance, John has worked with Maura O'Connell, Roseanne Cash, Kathy Mattea and Sylvia Hutton.
